NEW focus statement
For my thesis I want to focus on the concepts of exchange and restrictions through an interactive piece such as a game with content focusing around both the cultural and natural environment.

"Designed by Harry Pearce, Conundrums is a new collection of elegant typographic puzzles constrained by three simple rules: one box, two colours, a single typeface."
I like not only the typo
graphy in this but also the fact that the whole book is constructed on a set of rules.
Designed by Lisa Strausfeld. http://visualization.geblogs.com/visualization/appliances_energyuse/
This site is an interactive work that displays how much energy the normal household appliances use and solutions to cut down their energy use while saving money. I like this because it is very simplified with the symbols and dialogue boxes which communicate easily with the website viewer. I also like that they information isn't just written out there that you have to actually click through each one to find out.

brainstorming
Try to come up with an actual focus statement. Right now I too can only come up with words and jumble them together. My thought process:::: Environment->Sustainability->Sustainable Design->Eco-Friendly->Global Warming->Pollution->Emissions credits->Carbon trading market->Limitations->Restrictions->Exchange->Change.
Environment:the aggregate of surrounding things, conditions, orinfluences; surroundings; milieu.
2.
Ecology . the air, water, minerals, organisms, and all otherexternal factors surrounding and affecting a given organismat any time.
3.
the social and cultural forces that shape the life of a personor a population.
Sustainabilty:to support, hold, or bear up from below; bear the weight of,as a structure.
Sustainable Design:(also called environmental design, environmentally sustainable design, environmentally conscious design, etc.) is the philosophy of designing physical objects, the built environment, and services to comply with the principles of economic, social, and ecological sustainability.
Eco-Friendly:(also eco-friendly, nature friendly, and green) are synonyms used to refer to goods and services, laws, guidelines and policies considered to inflict minimal or no harm on the environment.[
an increase in the average temperature of the earth's atmosphere (especially a sustained increase that causes climatic changes) |
Pollution:undesirable state of the natural environment being contaminated with harmful substances as a consequence of human activities
Emissions Credits:Emissions trading (also known as cap and trade) is an administrative approach used to control pollution by providing economic incentives for achieving reductions in the emissions of pollutants.
Carbon Trading Market:An approach that relies on public markets to allow producers with excess emissions to trade with those with reduced emissions. This ensures, with proper monitoring, that emissions levels stay within a regulated amount.
Limitations:the final, utmost, or furthest boundary or point as to extent, amount, continuance, procedure, etc.: the limit of hisexperience; the limit of vision.
2.
a boundary or bound, as of a country, area, or district.
Restrictions:to confine or keep within limits, as of space, action, choice, intensity, or quantity.
Exchange:to give up (something) for something else; part with forsome equivalent; change for another.
Change:to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of(something) different from what it is or from what it wouldbe if left alone: to change one's name; to change one'sopinion; to change the course of history.
